From Kununurra I headed into the NT. Here I spent most of my time in Nitmiluk and Kakadu.
The Kimberley Community Whale Research Project is a land based survey of the humpback whale migration along the Kimberley Coast. This project was started as a response to Woodside’s desire to build a gas hub at James Price Point, a community driven initiative between the Goolarabooloo people, locals and environmentalists.
North of Murdudun is Walmadan and James Price Point. It was here that the proposed gas project was to be developed by Woodside.
Before leaving Exmouth I made sure to see some of the locals so present at this time of year.
Dog Memorial in Bicentennial Park.
A half hour walk on any day in Bicentennial Park would make such a requiem for man’s best friend make sense.
Dogs are the character of this urban space, various breeds populate the grounds amongst runners, commuters, families and observers. The lack of spacious backyards in the urban jungle could be the reason such a range of dogs intersect in one space.

I spent 6 weeks in Winton, Queensland whilst working on Iven Sen’s latest film project Mystery Road. Crew and cast made this film one of the most memorable jobs I have been fortunate to work on.
There is a reason why this town has become a a desired shooting location. The open landscape and ochre colour palette provide a scenic backdrop for any drama. The logistics of travel and locations is simpler than inner city filming and the locals were also very welcoming of outside crews.
When we had time away from set I sought to capture the tones of this country town and it’s subtle and unassuming characteristics.
